Lab-on-a-Chip Helps Pick The Right Antibiotic

medGadget highlights research at Johns Hopkins into a “lab-on-a-chip” that could offer a new tool in the battle against bacterial infections and illnesses.

The researchers are developing microfluidic devices that can identify individual bacteria and test which is the most appropriate antibiotic to treat it. This approach should lead to both faster identification of an infection and take some of the guess work out of prescribing medication.
